Senior Data Link Engineer

COLSA is seeking a Test Engineer support data link technology testing and evaluation. You could be the critical missing piece to our team! In this exciting role, you will:
Perform as a member of the 46 TS Tactical Integration Element (TIE) Test team
Interface directly with System Program Offices, other services, Joint Battle Labs as well as product development contractors
Plan, execute, and report on and associated datalink systems including Common Data Link (CDL), Link 16, Situation Awareness Data Link (SADL), Integrated Data Modem (IDM), Remotely Operated Vehicle for Emplacement & Reconnaissance (ROVER), Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK), Field Computing Device Wearable (FCD-W), DPSS/APASS, THS-II, TACP-CASS, Special Warfare/BAO and other like-systems.
Operate datalink systems/equipment/protocols to include Link 16, J series messages, Variable Message Format (VMF), and Cursor on Target Systems (CoT) and various other joint and coalition capabilities.
Proficient/familiar with various radios to include: MIDS LVT terminals, PRC-161, PRC-117F/G, PRC-152, PRC-163, PRC-160, SADL radios etc.
As a technical leader in an engineering role, review customer requirements and participate in test planning meetings.
Develop test plans and procedures, schedules, and execute a test within the constraints of customer requirements and produce timely test reports.
Capable of performing as a team leader in directing and executing datalink system testing.
Author technical documents and briefings, and conduct formal presentations.
Travel to locations, as required, to conduct tests, collect and reduce data.

One of the following combinations is required: Master’s Degree and a minimum of 10 years of applicable experience -OR- Bachelor’s degree and 18 years of applicable experience –OR- HS Diploma or Equivalent and 22 years of applicable experience.
Experience as a test engineer, assisting or leading in the planning, execution, and reporting of Developmental Test and Evaluation (DT&E).
Experience in communications testing, to include radios such as UHF (UHF SATCOM, SINCGARS, Have Quick) and VHF, and an understanding of RF systems testing in general.
Possess RF theory and practical hands on applications and equipment operation to include trouble shooting equipment, data, and network problems.
Excellent verbal, technical writing and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office applications.
Able to work effectively alone and as part of a team.
Able to direct the work of others.
Must be able to conduct test in rough environments that include the following: cold weather (down to 20 deg F), hot weather (both dry and humid, up to 115 deg F), light precipitation, altitude (up to 15,000 feet), and rugged terrain (rocky, steep etc).
Able to lift equipment etc. within individual (50lbs) and two-man lift requirements--with or without an accommodation
Able to travel CONUS and OCONUS (estimated at 20% of the time).
Must have ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD security clearance. U.S Citizenship required.
Technical experience with DoD digital/tactical information distribution data links; preferably with Link 16, SADL, VMF, MADL and IFDL.
Technical experience in the areas related to data link radios, radio frequency waves/propagation, and adhoc computer networks.
Experience and knowledge of tactical datalinks such as CDL, Link 16 Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS), Multinational Information Distribution System (MIDS) and SADL in both Line of Sight (LOS) and Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) mission threads.
Experience with Telemetry systems.
Understanding of DT&E processes, specifically acquisition program development and detailed knowledge of Air Force Command and Control (C2) test methodologies including AFI 99-103, Capabilities Based Test and Evaluation.
Knowledge of systems analysis and application software development concepts, functions, techniques and capabilities sufficient enough to evaluate emerging technologies in a developmental test and evaluation environment.
Current and Active Secret security clearance.
